This is the website of the Association of Colleges, London. It’s a lively and accessible site that aims to give lots of information to encourage Londoners to carry on learning. You can search for courses or colleges. 
  
  School Search
Speedy access to information to about schools throughout the UK. You can quickly and easily get an overview of how each school stands in the league tables, and get their Ofsted report. 
  
  Schoolsnet - School Guide
This guide to UK schools offers you the chance to find out about any of the schools in the UK, including details of OFSTED reports, exam results and access to each of the schools websites. Particularly useful for finding the best schools in an area. 
  
  UCAS - Institutions
This is part of the UCAS website. It is an excellent, up to date page listing all the higher education and further education colleges in the UK. You can find colleges and their websites through the map or the alphabetical list.

This is a searchable database of a huge range of courses, short or long, full or part time, degree and HND. It is a very thorough site for finding courses in colleges and universities all over the UK, as long as they have registered with ‘Hot Courses.’ 
  
  Learn Direct
Learn Direct is a good place to find information about a wide range of online learning opportunities. You can find out how and where you can study, get advice on choosing the right course and get business advice. A useful site with lots to offer. 
  
  Springboard
This is a site specifically for 16-18 year olds that gives information about careers and education. Free registration also gets you access to an online advisor and UK course search. 
  
  Support 4 Learning - Adult Education
An excellent page from this site, that helps learners to get an overview of different types of courses and access courses at all levels. It is aimed at those looking at adult education but can be of use to many different people. 
  
  UCAS - Courses
The Universities and Colleges Admissions service for the UK. This is the page that will take you to up-to-date information about degree and HND level courses throughout the UK 
  
Find out about available qualifications
  National Academic Recognition Information Centre
On this site, you can find out how to compare your professional qualifications from abroad with those in the UK. A very useful service for an increasingly global workplace. 
  
  The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority
If you want to find out more about qualification frameworks generally, from GCSE’s and GNVQs to higher level qualifications, this is the site. It shows links to its partners in Wales and Northern Ireland.

This is a really good page that gives details of the best places to find educational resources on the web. There are so many educational sites out there that this site can help you to save loads of time and effort when trying to root out information.

This is a site put together by a family who have educated their children at home. It is a good source of information about home education and contains a lot of well organised links to places where you can find useful teaching resources.

This is a private tutoring online service that operates throughout England, Scotland and Wales. It appears to be very comprehensive for a wide range of subjects and levels, but you need to try out tutor if you want to see if it works for you.

This organisation supplies private tutors for home tuition at all levels from primary through secondary including exam tuition, throughout the UK. Suitability is checked and character references sought. 
  
Get careers advice
  BBC Education - Job Advice
Well organised and written advice about lots of different aspects of employment, from picking your first job to starting your own business. It is not a very in depth site but can point you in the right direction and provide some interesting ideas. 
  
  Careers-UK
This is the website of the Careers Service National Association website. On this site you can find out the contact details of your nearest careers office, so you can contact them for advice. Some careers services are now part of the Connexions Service. 
  
  Doctor Job
A good graduate careers site that provides careers advice and information about most different industries and types of employment. The site is easy to use and there are some good features like an experts forum and employers directories. 
  
  Hobsons Careers Advice
Very good careers site that is aimed principally at graduates. However, much of the advice and many of the resources and links are equally applicable to anyone wanting some careers advice or looking for information about getting a job.

A good directory of some very good places on the web to find careers advice. Lots of sites that are aimed at all sorts of different people, from graduates or school leavers to anyone who is thinking of changing their existing job. A good resource. 
  
  Monster Careers Centre
Monster is a well known source of employment information. It is packed with useful resources and advice about finding a new job, changing careers and other important employment issues. You can also find expert advice on specific topics. 
  
  Prospects
This is the UK's official graduate careers service. You can access a wide range of services online including careers advice and help with finding jobs, postgraduate courses and work experience. Worth registering as lots of employers also view the site. 
  
Get educational advice
  Advisory Centre for Education
The ACE is an organisation that offers advice and information to parents on a number of state education issues such as exclusion, bullying, special educational needs and school admission appeals. A very valuable resource. 
  
  ALLFIE
This is the site of the Alliance for Inclusive Education. Here you will find information and news about ensuring education in a mainstream school for your child with a disability or special educational needs. 
  
  DFES - Parents
This is a page from the Department for Education and Skills that is provided for parents. It has advice on curriculum and assessment, amongst other helpful topics. 
  
  IPSEA
This is the site of the Independent Panel for Special Educational Advice. This site is full of very useful information for parents of children with special educational needs, about getting support in the education system.
