  London Colleges
This is the website of the Association of Colleges, London. It’s a lively and accessible site that aims to give lots of information to encourage Londoners to carry on learning. You can search for courses or colleges.

Speedy access to information to about schools throughout the UK. You can quickly and easily get an overview of how each school stands in the league tables, and get their Ofsted report. 
  
  Schoolsnet - School Guide
This guide to UK schools offers you the chance to find out about any of the schools in the UK, including details of OFSTED reports, exam results and access to each of the schools websites. Particularly useful for finding the best schools in an area. 
  
  UCAS - Institutions
This is part of the UCAS website. It is an excellent, up to date page listing all the higher education and further education colleges in the UK. You can find colleges and their websites through the map or the alphabetical list.

  DfES - LEA Contact Details
Use this service from the Department for Education and Skills to find the details of your Local Education Authority. You can either type in a search, see a full list or browse alphabetically.

A very good site. Find out the information you need about supporting your higher education at a Scottish university, then track your application online.

This part of the site deals with getting financial support and managing it at all levels of post-compulsory education. A very informative site and one of the few that covers non-HE funding. 
  
Find out about scholarships, bursaries etc.
  Community of Science
This amazing site brings together the world's most prominent scientists and researchers at more than 1,300 universities, corporations and government agencies worldwide. This site has information about funding research on a wide range of subjects. 
  
  NISS - Research Councils
This page gives links to all the major research councils in the UK. These bodies give grants, studentships and awards for postgraduate work in their fields. 
  
  Prospects - Postgraduate Studies
This site gives information about postgraduate studies. This page gives an overview of funding opportunities, with links to further information. It includes information for students with disabilities and international students.

This site provides a freely searchable database of undergraduate scholarships offered by academic institutions, commercial organisations and charitable trusts.

This site has sections for students on borrowing, saving, budgeting, accommodation etc. Use the categories on the left or roll over the words at the top for drop-down menus. There’s a section for parents too

This section of the Student UK site deals with all aspects of money acquisition and management for students. It’s clear and easily accessible. 
  
Investigate government funded training
  Basic Skills
The website of the national organisation for basic skills. It has news about developments in the field of literacy, numeracy and English for speakers of other languages. Also gives the number you can ring to find courses and resources in your area. 
  
  Career Development Loans
This is the place to find out about special loans that are available for the funding of vocational courses in the UK. You can find out exactly what the money can be used for and how to apply for one. 
  
  Job Centre Plus – Help with training
This page takes you to information about modern apprenticeships and other work-based training and learning, basic skills training, national traineeships and pre-vocational training. 
  
  Modern Apprenticeships
This is the site to found out about modern apprenticeships in Scotland. It contains information and contacts, case studies and frequently asked questions. 
  
  New Deal
This site gives an overview of the different groups that can benefit from New Deal’s opportunities to train for work and get work experience. 
  
  Teacher Training Agency
This is the official government site that can tell you all about funding for teacher training courses in the UK. The government are very keen to encourage more teachers and you can find out about how to go about becoming one from here.

This part of ‘the site’ is all about the government’s New Deal stategy. New Deal aims to give jobseekers a chance to train for work and get work experience, with the assistance of a personal adviser.
