This is a Department of Health website packed with information for young and adult carers about the different aspects of being a carer, including organisations, benefits and legislation as well as lots of links to carers associations and support agencies. 
  
  National Schizophrenia Fellowship
This is the official website of the NSF and it is a very useful and comprehensive site for people who want to know more about living with, and supporting people with severe mental illness. 
  
  Young Carers
This bright and lively award-winning site has been developed for young carers and those who help support them. Well worth a visit.

  Charities Direct
A site that offers support in running a charity as well as a wealth of information about many of the charities operating in the UK. Search through their comprehensive directory or learn about the financial activities of specific charities. 
  
  Charity Choice
The encyclopaedia of charities in the internet. There are thousands of charities listed on this well presented site. Search in over 30 categories or use a focused search to find a specific name. You can find details of each one and a link to the website. 
  
  The Charity Commission
This is the body responsible for maintaining the public's confidence in the UK's charities. The most useful aspect of this site is the ability to search for the details of any registered charity currently operating in this country and their websites.

  BCODP
The British Council of Disabled People (BCODP) is an umbrella organisation that represents some 130+ organisations run by disabled people. These groups are mostly local coalitions working on local issue. This site can help you find them. 
  
  Caring Matters
Caring Matters is a national charity set up to help patients, carers and professionals make informed decisions about long-term care. This site contains a lot of very useful information and links. Can be slow to download but is worth the wait. 
  
  RADAR
The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation is a national organisation of and for disabled people. The website contains masses of useful information as well as links to hundreds of other organisations around the UK.

Local councils are responsible for most facilities and services in your area. Use this excellent site to visit the website of your local council and find out about all the services that they offer or to contact a local council member or committee.

This is the official Department of Health website. Here you can find out all about current policy and legislation and access information about all of the related agencies. You can also use the links to quickly access a number of other useful sites.

This site provides excellent information about the opportunities and services that exist for young people with disabilities after the age of 16. There are a variety of categories, which combine to provide a comprehensive overview of the situation. 
  
  Skill
This is the website of the national bureau for students with disabilities. They promote opportunities and support for young people and adults (and their families) with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK. 
  
  The Shaw Trust
The Shaw Trust is a national charity that provides routes to work for people who are disadvantaged in the workplace due to disability, ill-health or other social circumstances. The site is full of easy to find information, resources and links. 
  
Take a break or find respite care
  Better Caring
This is a site that provides a lot of information about many of the aspects of caring as well as helping to care facilities all over the country, with advice about issues such as finance or finding the ideal care home for your situation. 
  
  Crossroads
Crossroads is a charity organisation who have been providing high quality support for carers for over 25 years in the UK. They have 200 schemes all over the UK and are worth talking to if you need a break or support in caring for someone. 
  
  Phab England
A lively organisation that organises clubs, holidays and projects (including educational) to enable people with and without disabilities to take part in activities together and share a social life.
