This is a site dedicated to providing easy access to genealogy websites, links and tools from all over the world relevant to the UK. This is the sister site of the massive 'AccessGenealogy' from the US and of similar high quality. 
  
  Cyndi's List - Genealogy Websites
This is a massive site with thousands of links to genealogy websites from all over the world. They are all cross-referenced and well organised, making it easy to access the type of sites you're after and get the information you want. 
  
  Everton
Everton is a well established genealogy magazine. It contains lots of information, features and articles about tracing your family tree and has links to some good resources to help you out. 
  
  Federation of Family History Societies
This is an international organisation that exists to co-ordinate and assist the work of societies or other bodies interested in family history, genealogy and heraldry. A good place to search for societies across the UK and the rest of the world. 
  
  Genealogy Guide
This site contains loads of information and advice about tracing your family tree. It is entirely free to use and includes a tip of the day, genealogy classes, how-to articles, newsletter, chat rooms and discussion forums. A valuable resource. 
  
  Genuki
This site is a genealogy website that can help you to access a family history information from the UK and Ireland. There is plenty of advice for those unfamiliar with researching genealogy and the amount of data available here is massive. Excellent. 
  
  Origins
This site can provide access to some of the definitive databases of family history available in the UK or Scotland. There are separate parts of the site for these two countries as well as practical advice about tracing your family tree. 
  
  Society of Genealogists
This is one of the first places you should come if you’re serious about discovering your family history. It contains all the basic information that you need to get started and has some useful links. 
  
Find an address
  192 Directory - Address Finder
Here you can find links to loads of really good places to search for people's addresses, emails, phone numbers and other such information. Many of these sites also let you reverse out the process to find names from numbers or addresses. A useful resource. 
  
  192.com
This is the largest of Britain's online directory services. Once you have registered, you can access address and phone number information about literally millions of businesses and individuals based on name or location information. A very useful site. 
  
  Streetmap
Simply enter a postcode or location and this no-frills site will quickly provide you with an accurate and clear street map of the local area. You can zoom in or out and move around the area with a click of the mouse on the screen. 
  
  UK Phone Book
A very simple and effective way to find phone number and address information for anyone in the UK. Searches are simple and very fast and there are lots of tips and advice for making your searches as successful as possible. Possibly the best of its kind. 
  
Get family tree software
  Legacy
Legacy Family Tree is a piece of software designed to make researching your family history a thorough but easy experience. It has a range of tools to help you with research and a version of the full program is currently available for free. 
  
Look at census information
  1901 Census
This is the site for the recently released 1901 census in the UK. Unfortunately, due to high initial demand it is temporarily closed for updates to the system. Keep an eye out though because it will be returning soon. 
  
  Census Statistics
This is the national UK statistics website, which contains information about the recent censusand access to previos census data; births, deaths and marriages; and a wealth of UK information. 
  
Look at public records
  The Public Records Office
The Public Record Office is the national archive of the United Kingdom. It covers an unbroken period from the 11th century to the present day and the records are available to whoever wishes to view them. This is a fantastic resource. 
  
Use the Mormons database
  The Mormons
This is one of the official sites of the Mormon church. It is full of information about how to search for ancestors and you can access their huge records database. It also has loads of links to other genealogy websites and a personal ancestral file.
