	National Rail Here you can access timetable and ticket information, find out about train company promotions and see how the trains are running today. A useful and comprehensive site that can help you sort out rail travel all over the country.
	Railpass Direct This is a site that specialises in providing Interail tickets for rail travel around Europe. There is loads of information about the type and price of the passes available and you can either order over the phone or online.
	The Trainline The Trainline is a good place to book rail travel all over the country. You can plan any journey and book it there and then. You have to register for use of the site but this is an easy process and well worth it for the service they offer.
Complain about rail travel
	Consumer Gateway - Complaints This is the official government consumer website. This page tells you exactly what procedures you should follow when complaining and provides an alphabetically organised list of people that you can complain to on a range of subjects.
	Train Pain A site that helps you to make complaints about rail travel in the UK. There is a form to establish what your complaint is, which is then turned into a letter that is sent to the relevant company. In addition there are links to other useful rail resources.

	Rail Regulator - Passengers This is the webpage of the Rail Passengers Council, which is a part of the national Rail Regulator. They deal impartially with all of the most important rail travel issues such as safety, fares and punctuality and exist to represent passengers interests.

	Easy Map A fantastic site for obtaining a map based on address information. Simply type in the details of the address and press go. The site will then generate a map pinpointing the exact location. This map can be emailed to someone or printed for reference.
	Multimap This mapping website allows you to find a street map of anywhere in Britain based on postcode information. The maps can viewed at a number of different scales and travel directions are provided. This site also includes aerial photos and local information.
	Streetmap Simply enter a postcode or location and this no-frills site will quickly provide you with an accurate and clear street map of the local area. You can zoom in or out and move around the area with a click of the mouse on the screen.

	National Rail - Maps Here you can find high quality and detailed maps that can be downloaded as PDF files. These show all aspects of the national rail network, making it easier to plan routes and see where you want to go. They can take a while to download but it’s worth it.
	The Tube - Maps Here you can find copies of the official Tube maps, including fare zone maps and travelcard zone maps. These can be downloaded for free in a variety of sizes. You can also find bus, river and tourist maps.

	National Rail - Live Departures This is an experimental section of the National Rail site that lets you see live information from a large number of stations in the national network. This means that you can see if trains are running late or cancelled before you leave the house.
	Railtrack The official Railtrack site allows you to access train time information for journeys all over the UK. Despite the problems that Railtrack have had recently, the information on the website remains accurate and easy to find. A very useful site.
	Railtrack - Major Stations This section of the Railtrack site lets you find a wide range of relevant information about each of the 14 major UK stations that Railtrack manages. This includes bus links, contact details and information about facilities.
	The Tube Information Provides up to the minute information for those travelling on London's tube. Also includes an online journey planner with a tube map.
Get weather information
	BBC Weather This is an excellent part of the BBC website. It has weather information for the entire world updated regularly by the met office. Has loads of weather news and forecasts available for most any area of the world.
	The Met Office This official site is one of the most comprehensive weather sites on the internet and allows you to search the globe for local weather information. Forecasts are available for anywhere in the world and it is updated very regularly.
	UK Weather Information This straightforward site is quick and easy to use. Its aim is to provide simple and easy weather information and forecasts for the British Isles and it does this in a detailed and comprehensive way. Can be long winded for quick information.
Organise travel by public transport
	Public Transport Information The BEST and most comprehensive public transport website in Britain. It covers rail, bus, air, coach, ferry, metro and tram travel in the UK and from here to Europe. It contains ticket information, timetables and passenger facility information. Excellent.

	At UK This site is absolutely stuffed with useful links to websites for anyone who wants to go on a holiday in the UK. They are searchable by county and each county section is full of information about destinations and things to do. A great site.
	Travel Notes This is a useful page that rates the usefulness of all of the travel guides available and gives advice about the best way to use such guides. An excellent site that will help you to choose the guide that’s right for you.
Read government policy and legislation
	DTLR - Integrated Transport This page from the department for transport, local government and the regions details the governments integrated transport policy and the attempts to provide a wider range of choice, reliability and safety on public transport in the UK.
	DTLR - The 10 Year Plan This site gives you the chance to read official government policy on transport for the next 10 years. Although this can obviously be wordy and complex at times, it is a one of the best ways to understand the direction of government transport initiatives.
