Summary : on the right side of the tree directory window, eCatch displays three different views which correspond to the many different ways you can access information.

The document view (F6) - Back to the top !

Pages can be browsed immediately if you start an HTML 3.2 compliant browser :

  • document view offers the nearest comparison with advanced browsers : clicking links, pan scrolling, keyboard arrows, third mouse button options and so on.
  • If you click a link already downloaded, the corresponding page will display. Otherwise, eCatch generates a new address visible in tree directory which will lead to a new download (pages or files will be captured next time you connect). If we consider you are already logged onto your Web server (joint with the fact eCatch is processing downloads or remains monitoring), the document is first loaded and then displayed.
  • Right-click the current page or a link to display the corresponding context menu.
  • The document view toolbar displays pop-up help as mouse rolls over (local search, attached annotations,...).
  • In case you highlight an image  in tree directory marked up with such a colored square , it is displayed in an independant image view with zoom features (available through the left or right mouse button or the toolbar icons).

The list view (F7) - Back to the top !

Many sorting options allow you to rapidly scan your personal database (dates, urls, titles, formats, status...).

  • List view may be used in quite different ways. That mode usually displays an element you select in tree directory. If option "All content" is checked, all documents contained in subdirectories are displayed.
  • "Lock" prevents the list view from displaying a new selection made in tree directory.
  • Double-clicking a data is equal to selecting it in both, tree directory and opened available views.
  • Click a raw title to sort the list according to names, download and change dates, addresses, ...; clicking twice reverses the sorting.
  • Even in case a list view is opened but hidden, toolbar arrows and make it possible to select previous and next elements of the list. By the way, you can browse pages in accordance with the way you sorted them in the list view.
  • Select various addresses in the list view just as you would do with the Ctrl and Shift keys in a windows' explorer window. Then, those grouped pages may be moved to tree directory, deleted or edited with grouped properties.
  • The * character displayed in the date column tells you date changes are not precisely known (10 % servers do not provide that information). As a consequence, displayed date is merely assessed by eCatch through a content comparison procedure.

The Information view (F8)- Back to the top !

That "information board" displays current data title, status and address; four extra information criteria are available in case you check the corresponding toolbar checkbox :

  • Status : last modification, download and verification date; it also provides file size information.
  • Properties : it displays the way you want elements to be tuned; download type (full or only information), loading or not images from a page, depth level untill which capture has to be performed, location of links (following server address or directory address), exclude or include files when depth level is above 0.
  • Links : it displays a list of the whole links and images of a page (site index). Twin files are deleted.
  • Communication : to get extra server information about a hosted file. Advanced users will appreciate to be aware of server daemon versions, requested cookies and so on.
