Summary : let us provide you with clear information about known problems, incoming improvements and evolutions that could result from user reports.

Known Problems - Back to the top !

  • About 10% servers do not date pages they broadcast; thus, a first download may display wrong date information.
  • Keyword Shortcuts are not fully operational.
  • Some pages are not displayed as efficiently with eCatch as they would be with IE or Netscape. In that case you may use a second navigator to view those pages correctly.
  • eCatch does not recognise javascript or java formats : it ensues from this that pages are sometimes better displayed with IE or Netscape.
  • The index page may be downloaded twice (when the "only pages" and "except images" options are checked) mainly because eCatch cannot bluntly assume www.ecatch.com is identical to www.ecatch.com/index.htm.
  • Clicking a link in a frame does display the page outside that frame, contrary to what it should be.

Future improvements - Back to the top !

  • Adding META tags to link information.
  • Keeping older versions with the purpose of monitoring changes.
  • Compliance with FTP procedures and locally anchored addresses. (file://).
  • Contents are loaded while downloads are being processed or pages displayed; hence, eCatch cannot find pages located in the remotest part of a tree directory; this malfunction may also occur when the agent is closed. We are solving this problem.
  • Often does it happen that different pages are displayed with different character size; eCatch will be able to memorize what character size was used for each page.
  • Drag & drop features even in view modes.
  • A separate tiny module called a scheduler will enable you to connect or to disconnect from the Internet by night, allowing by the way agents to be automatically updated.
  • Reporting server estimates and generating text notes.
  • Generating a link index directly from view modes.
  • Graphical cursors to visualize downloads in progress.
  • Resuming a connection after an important archive capture is aborted voluntarily.
  • Improved "meta search" and monitoring features.
  • Sorting out manually tree directory contents.
  • Something else ? Please report needs and suggestions on the eCatch web board forum.
