When Webcelerator is installed, it will determine if your system already contacts the Internet through a proxy server. If it detects another proxy, Connect through a Proxy Server will be checked and the http address and port that it uses will be displayed. If you install an additional proxy server after Webcelerator is installed, you must enter its http address and port manually. In the Connection Settings window, you will be given several choices. Check Local Area Network if you are using a LAN connection. Check America Online if you use America Online to connect to the Internet. Check Modem if you will be using a modem to connect to an outside network. In the drop down menu, you will be able to choose from a list of dial-up connections. You will also be able to use the option "Auto-connect". Auto Connect will cause your system to automatically bring up your server dialog box upon your first request of data from the Internet. You will still need to enter your name and password as usual. See also the Connect to the Internet option from the right-click menu of the Webcelerator tray icon and Monitor windows. Optimize Internet Connection helps your system pass data in the most efficient way if you access the Internet through a modem. Uncheck this option if you access the Internet through a Local Area Network (LAN). This option is not available on systems running Windows NT. The Advanced button allows users to further adjust the factors that control network communicaton. The settings available through this button are for experienced network users. We have set defaults which will be optimal for the general user. You may read Advanced Optimization Settings to further understand these options. Checking the Enable Cookies box permits Webcelerator to store a copy of your cookies which it can use to prefetch sites requiring cookies. If you do not enable cookies, Webcelerator will not use cookies to access any site. This check box relates only to Webcelerator's use of cookies. Whether or not you have cookies on your system depends on choices you make in your browser.
