How to use ToolBox - Icon Properties

Click for full size image To change the icon, command line or even the hint of a shortcut, you need to select right-click on the shortcut and select 'Icon Properties...' from the pop-up menu. A dialog like the one on the right will appear.

Here, you can change the following properties:

Filename
This is actually the command line that will be executed. If this is the name of a file (like in the example - an HTML file), ToolBox will execute the associated application automatically, so you don't need to worry. Most often you will be adding parameters to the command line.
For example, say that you have created a shortcut to CMD.EXE, but you want to change the prompt for this particular command window to "[directory]". The original shortcut created was pointing to "c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe". By changing the filename to "c:\winnt\system3\cmd.exe /k prompt [$p]" you can execute the command window, and change the prompt at the same time!

Description
If you have the Floating Hint option enabled (see Toolbox properties), the Description of an icon is the text displayed in the floating Hint.

Start In
This is the starting directory for your application. You don't normally need to change this, but if you have a particular application that needs to start in a specific directory then change this property to whatever that directory should be. ToolBox will change to that directory prior to executing your chosen command.

Icon
Finally, this is the filename of the Icon, DLL, Executable or Icon Library (*.icl) that contains the icon for your shortcut. The selected icon (in case the file contains more than one) will be highlighted in the icon list as shown in the example. Use the '...' button next to the Icon edit box to pick another icon library and then select the icon of your choice from the icon list.
Note, if the file you choose contains no icons, ToolBox will automatically assign the first icon from TOOLBOX.EXE.
