Quick StartLets get started using WebZIP. As an example, we'll download and Zip an entire online
issue of Wired Magazine. For this we've checked out the Web site and found that each
issue is organized within its own subdirectory. Now, say we want the September '97
issue. The URL for this issue is: The entire content for this issue falls under this subdirectory. (note: wwww is not a typo) Now armed with this knowledge, we can use WebZIP to download and Zip all the pages and images within this subdirectory. Step 1: Enter the Starting Address (URL) on WebZIP's main toolbar. Step 2: Select the profile 'Selected Directory (Text, Images)' on the toolbar. Step 3: Select how you want the
Website saved. Whether you want it zipped or downloaded to your Personal Intranet
Folder. You can do this via the 2 buttons on the main toolbar That's all there is to it! Now sit back and watch WebZIP in action. In the Scheduler, you'll notice a new task called 'wired'. The pause and abort buttons allow you to temporarily pause a download or terminate it all together. In the Connections screen you can watch the progress of the download. Use the graphs to check on download speed or total Kbytes downloaded. Also notice the status bar displays the number of Web pages and images which have been downloaded. You can also Browse the Web pages as they're downloaded and Zipped. Once the download completes a popup dialog notifies you and displays the results of the download. |
