Money's online financial services make managing your personal finances easier and more efficient by using the power of the Internet to facilitate banking, bill paying, and investing from your desktop. Depending on the financial institution (Bank, brokerage house, and credit card provider.), you may have some or all of the following Online Services available to you.
- Online statements Download (When you make an online connection to a bank, financial institution or Web site requesting information, such as a stock quote or bank statement, that information is transmitted over the Internet, or ôdownloadedö, to your computer. You can then use that information in your Money file.) your bank statements and see immediately which checks have cleared your bank account and which automatic deposits have been made. Download your brokerage statements and see your current brokerage portfolio market value. All of this information is automatically added to your Money account. You get the information faster than waiting for a monthly statement in the mail and you save time because you don't have to manually enter all the transactions (Any deposits, transfers, purchases, withdrawals, or other actions you enter in an account.). Statements are available as part of both Direct Financial Services (Services provided by your financial institution that allow you to do common banking tasks from your computer via a direct connection with the financial institutionÆs computer.) and Web Financial Services (The ability to do common banking tasks from your computer on a Web site provided by your financial institution.) in Money.
- Electronic payments (Epays) Paying bills electronically is another big time saver. You can ask Money to send checks to payees (The individuals or businesses to whom a check is written.) you designate on a pre-determined date. This is great for one-time expenses, or for regular expenses of varying amounts such as utility and phone bills.
Just select Epay in the number field for any payment you want to make online. You don't have to address an envelope or buy stamps. You can also set the date when you want the check sent. This is handy in case you want to pay all your bills at once, but don't have the funds in your account. You can have the check sent after your next deposit is scheduled. Epays are part of Direct Bill Payment (A Direct Financial Service that allows you to pay bills electronically, which can be used with any checking account in the U.S. After you set up Direct Bill Payment at your financial institution, you can have money electronically debited from your account and your financial institution will send that money to your designated payee.) in Money.
- Web payments Paying bills on the Web can be as simple as logging onto your bankÆs Web site, entering payment information, and clicking a button. The exact details of the process depend on each financial institution, but in general Web payments, like Epays, mean you donÆt have to address an envelope or buy stamps and you can download payment information into Money as soon as you make the payment. The ability to make payments on the Web is a part of Web Financial Services and depends on the capability of your financial institution.
- Automatic Payments (Apays) For regularly recurring bills of a set amount such as car, rent, and mortgage payments, you can set up Apays to be sent on particular dates. Once you set up an Apay (An electronic payment that you set up with your financial institution where funds are automatically withdrawn from your account and a payment sent to the payee, whether or not you connect to your financial institution. The payment is recorded in your Account Register the first time you connect within 30 days of the due date. Same as automatic payment.), you don't have to worry about remembering to send a check in the mail ù Money takes care of it for you. Apays are part of Direct Bill Payment in Money.
