The Connect place in the Online Financial Services area is where you go to use your Online Services. Depending on what Online Services this financial institution (Bank, brokerage house, and credit card provider.) offers and what youÆre signed up for, this is where you come to:
- Download online statements Whether you use Direct Statements (Direct Financial Service that allows you to download online statements directly and securely from your financial institution, and depending on your financial institution, transfer money electronically between accounts.) or get statements from the Web, this is where you download (When you make an online connection to a bank, financial institution or Web site requesting information (such as a stock quote or bank statement), that information is transmitted over the Internet, or ôdownloadedö, to your computer. You can then use that information in your Money file.) them to Money. After you download an online statement (An electronic list of the transactions that have cleared your financial institution. The information is similar to the information in your paper statement, and you can use it to update your account records electronically. Online statements are available through both Web and direct banking in Money.), you can update your account records to make sure they match the bankÆs.
- Create electronic payments (Epays) and transfers (Xfers) If your financial institution supports them, you can create Epays and Xfers right here with the click of a button.
- Send Epays, Xfers, and automatic payments (Apays) After you create one of these transactions (Any deposits, transfers, purchases, withdrawals, or other actions you enter in an account.) in Money, connect to your financial institution to send it.
- Make Web payments If your financial institution offers Web payments (Payments entered on your financial institutionÆs Web Financial Service Web site. Web payments are sent to your financial institution via the Internet and you can download the details of the transaction into your Money account through your online statement.), come here to connect to the Web and enter your payment information directly on your financial institutionÆs Web Financial Services Web site. After youÆve made your payment on the Web, download the payment information into Money to keep your account records up to date.
- Communicate with the financial institution If you use Direct Financial Services (Services provided by your financial institution that allow you to do common banking tasks from your computer via a direct connection with the financial institutionÆs computer.), you can create e-mail from the Connect place to send to your financial institution (for example, you can ask about a specific payment, request a copy of a check, or order checks). Money fills in routing information to make sure the letter goes to the right person or department.
- Review the transactions scheduled for your next connection If you use Direct Statements or Direct Bill Payment (Direct Financial Service that allows you to pay bills electronically, which can be used with any checking account in the U.S. After you set up Direct Bill Payment at your financial institution, you can have money electronically debited from your account and your financial institution will send that money to your designated payee.), Money displays a list of all the transactions, instructions, and letters you have prepared to send to your financial institution on your next direct connection.
It doesnÆt matter if you use Web Financial Services, Direct Financial Services, or both, you can always come to the Connect place to complete your online banking and investing tasks.
The Connect place only appears in the left pane of the Online area if you have set up Online Services for this financial institution.
