Recently I responded to 'Please spare us the official cliche!' and yet it wasn't posted. Maybe what I had to say was simply to "dangerous" to the cause. First, you make a comment about if Shirley had more work experience she would realize that there are better work envioroments than MCD. I have 8 year with McDs and before that I have 12 prior years of work experience in the a few different fields, to include--the military, insurance fields, and also as a Drafter. Yes I do have a college degree. And, I like the enviornment that I now work in, better than any other I have worked in. McD's is one of the fairest and most diverse companies that I have ever worked for. And I have worked for companies with unions!!!Next, you wanted factual information about McD's. First of all, I am a restaurant manager and I work approx. 43-45 hours per week, my assistants also work the same number of hours. I work 5 days per week, and in all my 8 years of working for Mcd's in 2 different regions, and in 7 different stores, I have never been told to come in and work due to us being shorthanded. Neither have I forced any of my employees to do the same, they can pick up the extra hours if they wish but are not required to. Yes, and no, to the transfers, depending on the situation.
Usually, a transfer is to the benefit of the person being transferred.
ie. a promotion. What is the salary? I won't talk salary but I will
talk total compensation--Besides for a nice salary, I recieve 4 weeks
paid vacation (every yeat), then an 8 week sabbatical plus 5 weeks vacation (every 10 years), a genourous profit sharing program, 401k, stock options, a company car, stock purchase plan, short and long term disability pay, 90% tuition reimbursement for college level courses (including suppplies),life, health and dental insurance to name a few.
Lastly, I address the issue of people treatment. Mcd's truly believes that the key to treating our customers right is by treating our internal customers (our crew people) right. Our people are an investment and seeing that we are in the business of making a profit, it doesn't make sense to treat your people like crap, so that they quit, and then you have to start all over again. It costs time and money, to hire and train our crew. But alas, it does happen, unfortunately there are people in this business as in any other business that have a long way to go when it comes to people practices. However, as long as this company is ran by humans, it will be as imperfect as any human being. Sad to say there are bad stores out there but not all stores are that way. There are really a lot less bad ones than there are good. (To that I am sure that you will have a comment) I realize that we don't pay alot at the entry level position, however, we do promote from within a lot, that's based on performan

McSpotlight comment: Regarding your comment that perhaps your previous message was 'too "dangerous" to the cause' for us to post, McSpotlight does not censor or refuse to post messages because they are pro-McDonald's. Anyone who reads just a handful of messages in these debating rooms can see that for themselves. The only reason messages are not posted is if they are irrelevant, threatening or abusive. However we are currently experiencing system problems with the Debating rooms, which is why the McDonald's debating room is closed for maintenance. So if you did indeed send a message it is possible it was lost through a fault in the system.
