: I have worked at Mk DonaldÆs for almost 5 1/2 years, granted it is the only job I have ever had, but I couldn't ask to work for a better corporation. If you had more employment experience you would have known that other companies with much better work environment and fairer employment conditions do actually exist. One of the problems with McJobs is that the more you grow into it, the narrower your perception of the wider world becomes.
: I am a second assistant manager. I am in my third store, which just opened in Dec of 96. I have worked my way to the position that I hold from a crew person.
Enough of how well you have done @ mad. We have heard all this before many times over - could you instead give us some factual information like how many hours you have to work per week, how much do they pay you, can you say no to being transferred from one store to another, can you say no when they are short-staffed and ask you to go to work on your rest days, can you join a trade union if you wished to etc. etc.
:I can relate to a lot of the complaints that crew people have.
ThatÆs a real relief. Just the thought of you relating to my complaints makes me feel much better when I am slaving away at the regular grill on a busy Saturday lunchtime for a pittance!
: you must understand that with the responsibilities that we hold some of the time we forget who is most important in our buisness, besides the customers, the crew people. You are the people who run everything.
You forgot your next line. Let me remind you: "You are a member of a family, the McDonalds family!".
Please spare us the official patronising clichΘ. I think everybody knows by now what is the most important business consideration for mad i.e. their profits. The customers are only important because they pay to make this profit. And as far as the crew are concerned, well they are certainly at the bottom of the list . Why else would mad pay so little attention to the effects of their product on the health of their customers. And why else would mad exploit their workers so much, pay them so little and not allow them to be represented by independent workers institutions even if the crew wished to.
: I apologize for all the managers who seem too preoccupied with what else is going on to notice and commend you for all your efforts put into doing your job.
Yelp, itÆs definitely a mad manager talking - patronising, giving excuses for the uncaring and rude behavior of the management, looking down on the crew and underestimating their intelligence.
:I just have one piece of advice for you all, talk to your managers let them know how you feel.
And I have got a much better piece of advice for you: if you decide to talk to your managers, make sure you do not criticise mad too strongly and certainly do not tell them you are going to _do_ something about what bothers you otherwise they will make life hell for you and possibly get rid of you somehow.
