This is one of the original and best unbiased sites for finding an independent financial adviser. It has an easy to use system that can match you with an adviser that best suits your requirements and who is usually from your local area. A great resource.

Finding an independent financial adviser in your local area is made incredibly simple with this great website. Simply type in your postcode and state what type of advice you need and you will be given the details of a number of suitable local advisers.

A very good UK based legal portal that offers free advice and information about a very wide range of different situations. The site is organised into categories within which there is a wealth of relevant and up to date information. Well worth a look.

This is an excellent legal portal that provides free advice and information in a very wide range of different categories. From here you can also access a number of other very good legal sites. Law on the Web is well written, comprehensive and very useful. 
  
  Legal Advice Free
As the name implies, this site offers free legal advice and links on a wide range of different topics. The advice is usually up to date and whilst it is no substitute for personal advice from a solicitor it can be a very useful guide to where you stand. 
  
  The Community Legal Service
The CLS was set up by the government in order to try and ensure that people can get information and help about their legal rights and understand how to enforce them in the right place and at the right time. A very useful site that can be of great use.

  Banking Code
The Banking Code Standards Board exist to ensure that consumers get fair treatment from all of the banks and building societies that subscribe to the code. This is the definitive resource for finding out about the banking code. 
  
  Consumer Gateway
This site is run by the DTI and provides online access to information and advice for consumers. There are links some of the most useful websites for practical and accurate consumer advice and information. This is a comprehensive and useful website. 
  
  Financial Ombudsman
This independent organisation exists to offer consumers a free service for resolving disputes with financial institutions such as banks. These are the people you need to talk to if you have a financial complaint. A very useful and informative site. 
  
  Financial Services Authority - Advice
The FSA is the independent organisation that is responsible for regulation of the banking industry. This is their consumer advice section and its packed with excellent advice to help you make the best decisions and choose the right products. 
  
  MCCB - Consumers
The Mortgage Code Compliance Board are responsible for ensuring that you are well informed and protected when you take out a mortgage. If you have any problems with your lender, it is worth seeing if they can help. 
  
  NACAB
This is a great website that offers a fantastic service. You can use this site to find out where you nearest citizens advice bureau is and use it to get advice about all sorts of things. There is also information about a range of related issues. 
  
  Office of Fair Trading
The main government agency involved in consumer rights. The Office of Fair Trading is concerned with whether or not the way you were sold something is fair, not how good or bad the product is. The people to speak to if you feel unfairly treated.  
  
  Trading Standards Office
These people are responsible for making sure that, for example, what you buy isn't going to electrocute you. There are some excellent advice leaflets available here that cover a wide range of topics. Very good for knowing your rights as a consumer. 
  
  Which Online
This is a good source of information about a very wide range of consumer issues. The site contains an archive of articles on a huge range of consumer issues and product testing. You now have to be member to access all of the content.
