  Bike Explorer
A relatively useful site that can be a little too American to be of use to the UK bike rider. However, it does contain some very useful links and is worth a look for finding bike resources on the web. 
  
  Bikecrawler
This is a really useful site for finding cycling resources on the web. It has a search engine and loads of useful categories filled with loads of links to cycling sites from across the globe. Can occasionally be a little biased towards the US market. 
  
  Biking UK - Dealers
This mountain biking site offers a listing of dealers across the UK ordered by location and links to their websites if they have one. Although there is often only one bike shop per town listed, it is usually one of the best shops in its area. 
  
  COBR
The consortium of bicycle retailers is a 'marketing organisation that promotes cycling, the standards of a group of retailer members and quality brands and services directly to you the cyclist'. Includes shopping online and speciality products. 
  
  Cycle Source
This site is run by the Association of Cycle Traders and contains contact details for over a thousand independent cycle shops in the UK. Shops affiliated to the ACT are generally some of the best around and are well worth a visit. 
  
  Cycleweb
This is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to purchase anything related to cycling. It contains a huge list of all the bike shops in Britain organised by region and county. It also lists online shops and provides loads of cycling information. 
  
  Singletrack - Shopping
This part of the well known singletrack site is an excellent place to buy all sorts of mountain biking equipment and clothing, all purchasable online. 
  
Buy or sell a second hand bike
  eBay
The UK version of the giant US person-to-person auction site is impressive. It's free to put your stuff up for sale here. And although many of the auctions are based in the US you can search for only those lots sold in the UK. 
  
  Loot
This is the online version of the popular Loot magazine. You can buy and sell a huge range of stuff from all over the country. There loads and it’s a simple, easy to use site. 
  
  Preloved - Cycling
The cycle section of Preloved lets your look at hundreds of adverts for second hand bikes and advertise your own. 
  
  QXL
A well known auction site where you can buy pretty much anything that takes your fancy. There are lots of different categories to choose from and the process is simple to use and understand and offers security for buying and selling online.

This site provides access to a huge variety of different types of insurance from a large number of different companies, helping you to shop around and find the best deals. 
  
  CTC - Insurance
The UK's national cyclists organisation offers excellent insurance deals and free third party liability cover to its members. Legal advice is also included. Well worth a look for better than average cycle insurance. 
  
  Insurance Sorter
Another excellent site from the creators of 'Pension Sorter'. Here you can find genuinely independent advice about all the different forms of insurance available. The first place to come if you need help, advice or just easy to understand information.

  Bike Tune
This is a simplistic but easy to follow site that covers all of the basics of bicycle repair and maintenance. 
  
  Haynes - Cycling
Haynes manuals are famous for their easy to follow car maintenance guides for cars. This section of their site provides you with the opportunity to purchase one of their cycle maintenance books that provide an excellent guide to most types of repairs. 
  
  iBike
This part of the ibike site contains a huge bibliography of books about bicycle maintenance and repair, many of which have a link direct to a shop from where you can actually purchase them online. 
  
  Total Bike - Repairs
This is a good resource for anyone who needs to service a bike. There are comprehensive servicing information for Shimano components and some good advice about maintenance and emergency repairs. A very useful site.

  Bike Zone
Great road cycling magazine site with up to date news and results. A neat and easy to use site. 
  
  MTBR
An excellent site that will not only tell you the best bike to buy, but also the best place to ride it - you may never need to buy another mountain biking magazine ever again. Contains thousands of rider reviews of virtually any parts on the market. 
  
Read the highway code
  The DTLR
The department for transport, local government and the regions site contains this online version of the highway code of Great Britain. It is broken down into sections for ease of reference and includes illustrations.
