If the picture is a JPEG and has embedded data (EXIF), the "Embedded Data" tab will display. All available data within the picture header will be shown. Usually digital cameras embed a lot of useful data within the picture (including the picture date).
To determine if a picture has embedded EXIF data, display the picture properties for a picture. If the picture has EXIF data, it will be displayed on the "Embedded Data" tab on the picture properties screen. A sample of what might appear is shown below (although each camera supplies different types of data).
Note: The picture date and/or caption are extracted when generating a thumbnail. The date is used for auto-picture dating. If the picture has an embedded caption and you have not already entered a caption, the caption will be assigned from the EXIF caption.
