BullGuard - Antivirus - Scan now - Detection
Tip: Use the menu in this picture to navigate in the Help-file, just like when you use the real BullGuard
Here you can set up the detection options.
BullGuard is by default installed with the first three detection options ù memory; boot sector; and
normal files ù selected, regardless of the extension.
The detection option window offers the following further possibilities:
- Open packed programs û Scans compressed files.
- Open archives û Scans archived files.
- Open e-mail û Scans within your installed e-mail.
- Verify Internet ports û Scans local Internet.
- Check system security û Scans system for any unsafe security option and any abnormal situations or settings (e.g., unsigned ActiveX is running or Office Macro Protection is disabled).b
Scanning particular file extensions:
By default, the ôAll filesö check box is selected under ôFile Mask.ö If you would like to virus-scan your system for files with a particular extension(s), choose the ôUser-defined Extensionsö button and enter the extensions you wish to virus-scan in the created field. If you would like to exclude a particular extension(s), select the "Exclude extensions" option and enter the extensions you wish to exclude in the created field.
Observations:
- The ôOpen Archivesö button selection is recommended if you frequently use archives and wish to check them for viruses. The ôOpen Archivesö option selection may decrease scan speed. BullGuard is able to scan all the usual archiving formats (ZIP, ARJ, RAR, LZH, LHA, ACE, CAB, MIME, TAR, TARGZ, GZIP), regardless of the archiving method (archive in archive, multi-volume archive, self-extractable archives).
- The ôUser-defined extensionsö and ôExclude extensionsö buttons are recommended only for the advanced users who are familiar with anti-virus products. The default configuration is recommended for all beginners.
