 Features in
IRCplus Version 1.5.x
Date of release: Wednesday, May 05 1999.
Unlike other IRC server/client software, IRCPlus is highly versatile while hosting
and supporting many features specially tailored for your server administration, operation
needs and specifications. The following list defines some the features that IRCPlus currently incorporates.
Permanent Channel/Nickname Registration.
IRCplus Supports permanent Channel and NickName
registrations. You may set this up to allow the users to register their own, or allow only
Administrators to control it. You have the choice of doing this either by IRC commands or
by using the Remote Control.
Support for common IRCx
commands and modes
IRCPlus supports common and known IRCx commands
like - access, user, channel, prop modes, as well as being one-hundred percent compatible
with IRC commands and modes. For more information on IRCx commands please view the IRCX Draft.
Online and remote administration
Although IRCPlus does not support Web Administration, we
do however support remote administration either with the Remote Control "Provided
with IRCPlus", that only your Administrators can use, or by IRC Commands. The remote
will automatically switch Ports to prevent unauthenticated crackers.
IP/Hostname Masking.
For extra security you have the choice of three levels of
IP/Hostname Masking. The way it works. It masks some of your IP address of the Mask
Address, thus dis-allowing people to use Denial of service attacks on you.
255.255.255.255 |
255.255.255.XXX |
port.domain.com |
xxxx.domain.com |
1 - No mask on server. (not recommended)
2 - Channel hosts see IP addresses only.
3 - Full masking, only server admins have access.
Prohibited Nicknames,
Channels, and Topics
IRCPlus incorporates an Anti-Profanity,
Inappropriate Language Context Control that include profane nicknames, channel names and
channel topics! You can add and remove them from the list under "Prohibited".
You may also chose to turn on the Teen Mode "on all
channels set with +h mode" that disallows swears in that channel. This is great if
you have channels where you know younger age people will be going. SmartChecker is the
software that powers this, it will scan the words and know if people are trying to fool
it.
Six Types of IRC Operators
Each IRC server needs different people to do different
tasks. IRCPlus understands that and has supplied a whole range of Operator Levels. If you
wish to know what each level includes you may view the Operator Levels page.
