Its latin name got accordingly to Father David, who discovered him in the middle China in the last century. Today Pere David`s deer don`t live in a free nature, we can see them only in ZOO. It`s a international protected kind. For Pere David`s deer is typical rare antlers, which is absolutely different from the other stags. ZOO Brno is proud of one pair. Male`s name is Satan and female is Osika. Breeding of these stags is very difficult, but not long ago we have big success. Osika gave a birth to a fawn (male) - 19.3.1998. |
