Terrain Placement Editor

Overview
GenesisII's Terrain Placement Editor is used to edit the placement of terrain information on a landcape surface. All terrains that use shape information to plot their distribution can be edited here - i.e. Surface, Model, Overlay, Vegetation and Urban terrains. To edit water and the landscape surface itself use the Landscape Heightfield Editor.

The Terrain Placement Editor
The editor has three main parts:

Defining Terrains on the landscape surface
Terrain may be placed on a landscape surface either manually or by using the GIS plugins to import shape information from GIS systems such as MapInfo or Arcview. The terrain layers available are displayed in the check list on the Parameter Display area - Terrain layers can be hidden or revealed using the corresponding check box.

To manually edit items first select the desired terrain layer from the Current layer drop down list. Only terrain shapes in the currently selected layer can be edited.

To edit an existing shape choose the Select Terrain tool button from the toolbar. New shapes may be added by selecting the area, line or model tools (see the toolbar for details). All tools will not be available for each layer, for example polygon and line tools will not be availbe for model terrains.
