Backgrounds

You can choose a background image for your web page or change the background color. Keep in mind an image should not be too large as this will increase the time visitors wait for your page to download. Most background images are therefore very small and allowed to tile for effect. The example page will not utilize a background image, rather a background color.

  • if you are not viewing "Baker's Homepage", press "G", and choose it from the list
  • right click the mouse with the mouse pointer over the page canvas and select the 'Edit Background' option.
  • select 'choose colour'
  • enter 00 99 66 into the Hex fields and select OK
(Ordinarily you can choose any of the web palette colors displayed or you can specify your own color using the hexadecimal or decimal inputs.)
  • select 'apply these settings to the entire project' so that the background is consistent across the entire project
  • select 'make these settings default' so that any new pages will be created with the same background color (this saves time)
We now have five pages all with a green background.

Click on this other related feature of Splash! for an explanation of how images can be selected and used as backgrounds.
