Default Options

Where is this Option? FILE => PREFERENCES
These options are useful because they will help you customize Splash!

DEFAULT CREATOR NAME

The creators name will not be placed on the page(it will not be visible) but in the page code (HTML) so that anybody wishing to check the page details can see who created it.

DEFAULT CREATOR E-MAIL

This is not visible on your page but is placed in the code (HTML) of all pages in the project and will provide people with your contact E-mail address if they chose to view the source code using their web browser. If you do not want people to have access to your email address leave this field blank.

DEFAULT COPYRIGHT INFO

Just like the Creator Name and Creator E-mail, the Copyright Information will not be visible but will be included within the page's code (HTML).

FORMATTED OUTPUT

This option determines not how your page looks but how the code that has created your page will be laid out when viewed, say with a text editor. This formatted output with indented lines is like a computer programmer's code and the spacing helps to clarify what bits of the HTML relate to which parts of the finished page. If you are not interested in dealing with code outside of Splash! you should leave this option 'ticked' and forget about it.

COMMENTS IN OUTPUT

Just like the Formatted Output option this places comments into the code (HTML) and is not visible on the final page. Comments are used to make it easier for those who wish to edit their page outside of the Splash! environment and after it has been exported. It indicates where parts of the code that serve a specific purpose begin and end. If you are not interested in dealing with code outside of Splash! you should leave this option 'ticked' and forget about it.

LOCKED OUTPUT

Splash! allows you to create fixed-width pages that will display at the same width despite the monitor size, this is useful for people with small-width or low-resolution screens. If you would like your page to be justified across different screen sizes you should 'un-tick' this option. We recommend 'ticking' this option because it gives you greater control over exactly how your page will look on any monitor.

LAYOUT GUIDES

To help you place objects down on the page more easily, Splash! allows you to switch these guide lines on and off at your leisure.

EXPERT MODE

Expert mode will disable some user confirmation when performing certain functions and may make editing pages faster. Be careful if using this mode, whilst splash has an Undelete button it does not have and undo button.

EXPORT SUBDIRECTORIES

Splash! uses this option to help keep your site's files in an organized fashion. If you 'tick' this option all the image files your site uses will be placed in the images directory. If left 'un-ticked' all files will be stored in the same directory.

OBJECT BORDERS

Splash! places borders around objects that are placed in Splash!. Borders are used as a guide and make it easier for you to see how each object is interacting with the other and will not be shown on your finished page or when you preview the page in your browser.

HELP ACTIVE

If you suspend your mouse pointer over a button (or some other feature), a small box will appear with a description of this function. This is called balloon help and can be toggled on or off.

START WINDOW

The Start Window is the dialog box that appears when Splash! first loads, and allows quick access for the 'New Project', 'Choose Template', 'Load Project' and 'Tutorial' selections. This can be disabled using either the check mark at the bottom of the window or via the Default Options Setup.

USE WIZARD FOR NEW PROJECTS

The wizard window will appear each time you start a new project if this box is ticked.
