I am currently working at a McDs in SA and basically it is Crap work! The thing is that basically anyone can be trained to do what i do but this is similar with many jobs, however it is much easier to get a McJob, kinda!?! I had to have an initial application and then two more interviews. Then i was shown out of date and irrelevant videos from the 70s and 80s, showing how you are supposed to be mcworking properly. They then expect you to be able to go from a normal person to a mcworker who can act and work in a manner that has the correct hustle. i am good enough now but i failed much of my training. Some say that once you turn 18 they give you minimum hours to make you quit however i have not found this to be true. Perhaps from my posting you can tell that i am neither for or against maccas but i have opinions about different things.
They do not care when they ring you to ask you to work and this is rather inconsiderate of them. I am not sure if this is how all Australian maccas operate but mine will call you if you are ever given that type of shift eg breakfast crew will be rung to work a breakfast at 6:30 am even if they are usually NA that day. This has happened to me many times.
One thing that shits me about maccas is that if there is something that has gone wrong bad food a drink spill something of that nature the managers will simply give the person another one and this is supposed to be ok. Wastage is a big problem for me. I am a lover of hotcakes and i am told that they have the lowest fat of all mcfood but at the end of breakfast any left gets thrown out. now if a fellow worker is off at 10:30 the end of breakfast is there anything wrong in that person getting slightly larger hotcakes than usual, if he is willing to pay for them when half of the daily mixture is about to be thrown out. i am sorry but that shits me.
the amount of packaging that is used is unbelievable. surely there is someway to cut this down.
McRock also sucks and something should be done about this. fellow McWorkers don't you think soft background music in the kitchen chosen by us yet censored by managers should be allowed. i for one would be able to work much better and happier if this was put in i am sure most of you would agree.
