Dear Pete, : I think that there is a great difference between the working methods of the managers in the McDonald's restaurants.
Obviously
: : Some say that once you turn 18 they give you minimum hours to make you quit however i have not found this to be true.
: Not true, I am 19 and I have a 30 hours contract
You have a contract!!! Unfair i only get given what the manager who does the rosters feels like which means if i have ticked her off recently i get jackshit hours.
: Not true, when you already have made some other arangements that day, they respect that. They asked my several times to back up a crew member that was sick. Sometimes I said "no problem", sometimes I said "I am sorry , but I have already made some other plans for that day". The reaction of the manager was "No problem, we will find an other solution".
Our managers find it no problem to ring at 6:30 am to see if i would like to work an open shift and telling them to fuck off generally isn't the answer they r looking 4.
: When we close at 11.00 pm there are still some salads or apple pies left. We are free to take them home and we don't have to pay for it!!! When I work at these shifts, generaly I go home with 4 or 5 and maybe 6 salads.
I don't know about this as i never work until close, but i think u took this out of context as i meant all of the wastage in general, for example a new practice at my maccas is that we have to wear plastic gloves the large size is too big to do anything and the medium size rips everytime you put them on and so they r useless. i would go through about ten pairs in a 4 hour shift as during the lunch rush these things break so easily and think of all the plastic that is used to make all the gloves for all the mcworkers for all shifts. IT'S UNTHINKABLE.
: Everybody at our store is free to bring some CD's
this is just because you work in a nice store and don't have hitler as your store owner.
: So, that's my opinion about McWork.
i think you have already heard most of mine.
