  1. Since 1/1/96 I've downloaded ~350 programs newly posted on the internet.
  2. Knowing you are busy with other things I'd like to contribute the
  3. following results as to errors and problems I encountered. The good news
  4. is that I got almost a third of them to work. Please note I downloaded
  5. _everything_ that was  new unless I knew it would not work,eg, PPC or a
  6. comm pgm. The following table is in order of frequency of the error:
  7.                    1.Fatal Errors-no surprise here.
  8.                         C_GetIconSuite
  9.                         OSDispatch
  10. --                     SoundDispatch
  11.                         ScriptUtil
  12.                         HFSDispatch
  13.                         ProcessManager
  14.                     2.Need QuickTime
  15.                     3.No FPU
  16.                     4.Need Sys 7.0.0    
  17.                     5.GPF
  18.                     6.Misc
  19.                          Need Serial suport-otherwise the pgm seemed to
  20. work
  21.                          Gestalt error
  22.                          Need Thread Manager-DarkForces Demo
  23.                          Cannot read monitor gamma table
  24.                          Nothing happens-the program makes bckgrnd noises
  25. and
  26.                                            just sits there or goes back
  27. to E/D.

  29. And if I may the following pgms would make great additions the CDROM you
  30. are working on as sample pgms to show off Executor. Note S means the
  31. sound works well if not perfectly. All pgms were tested on my P5-60 16M
  32. system with a clgd5426 1M video card with settings as follows:sys 6.0.7,
  33. animation, 0 refresh,newline mapping, disk access, colors 256. Acceptions
  34. to thses are noted below. Also assume the pgms are in color.

  36. AllDay 4.5-  Calendar w/ holidays and dates of your choosing. Pick
  37. colors. Battuere 1.0- Chess variant.-S- with beautiful color. Black Box
  38. 1.2.3- Find the hidden balls.-S-.
  39. Buffalo 1.0- Color tile game.Not mahjonng.
  40. CalcWorks 1.4.2- Four in one calculator w/ conversions.
  41. DOCMaker 4.2- Make stand alone documents.
  42. Dark Wood 2.0- RPG in living color.
  43. Fund Manager 3.0- Manager your portfolio.-B&W-
  44. FlashWorks 1.0- Foreign language vocabulary test with Fr, Ger, Span, Heb,
  45. &            
  46.                   words of ~1200 each.
  47. Gestalt.Appl 2.6.6- System analyzer. (All the ones I tried say E/D has no
  48. FPU) Glider 3.1.2- Fly the paper airplane through the room.-B&W- GnuChess
  49. Mac40b5f- Good chess game-B&W-
  50. GoldPusher 1.3- Leprechaun pushes his pot of gold to the rainbow to get
  51. to next 
  52.               level-S-Color-
  53. GopherGolf- Fabulous color PuttPutt golf.Six courses with 3 game limit
  54.              for each-S-.
  55. Graphic Converter 2.3.1- Outstanding viewer/converter with cursor acting
  56. as
  57.              a magnifying glass.
  58. HyperCard 2.1- Newer versions don't work. But I'd sugest the following
  59. pgm
  60.              to get with/for HyperCard Player:
  61.              Book- write a book and draw pictures in it. The book is in
  62. color
  63.                      but the pictures are not.
  64.              Cindy's Recipes- Yep, a cookbook-B&W-
  65.              Guide to the Artist- Good example of HyperText Stacks out
  66. there.
  67.              Tug of Word 2.5- Hangman variant-B&W-
  68.              ZEBI- unscramble the word-B&W-
  69. INITGestalt Inspector 1.0
  70. Lose Your Marbles 1.0- Fill the board of your choosing with differnet
  71. colored
  72.              marbles to win.
  73. MacDos 3.0- DOS for Mac. A command screen pgm with basic DOS commands.
  74. MicroWorld 2.0- Moleculer viewer/manipulator with lots of examples.
  75. MacSki 1.6- Excellent downhill ski program.Also design your own course-S-
  76. PolyKin 1.0- Tetris variant.
  77. ResEdit 2.1.3- You have to include this.
  78. ScrapIt Pro 5.01FAT-30 day limit. Scrapbook for text.pictures,sounds.
  79. Spheres- Quickly construct a path before balls start to roll.-S- Sirtet-
  80. 1 or 2 man tetris game. Use PS.
  81. SolitaireTillDawn 2.1- 20+solitaire card games.
  82. Tanagrams 3.18- Make the picture with given geometric shapes. Great
  83. color. TaskMaker 2.2.1- Beautiful RPG with voices you understand!-S-
  84. TechTool 1.0.9- Another sys analyzer.
  85. Tronish 1.3.2- EtchOSketch game.
  86. Unzip 5.12- For those who prefer zip. Viewer also.
  87. War of Flowers- Beautiful oriental card game.
  88. Wolfenstein- Of couse.-S-
  89. Word Connection 1.0.8- Boggle variant but you design the board, word
  90. length
  91.               sound,font.-S-
  92. XConq 7.0.1- If you like Civilization this is it. Pick your time
  93. period,location. ZipIt 1.3.5- Of course, with Unzip.

  95. The other pgms that worked were limited in some way which you don't want
  96. to show the limitations of E/D. Although there were some excellent ones
  97. they were too s-l-o-w. If you can take time to look at a few Sharp
  98. looking games sometime try out the following:
  99.                 Giza 1.9- Sys 7.0.0.Beautiful color. Takes place in a
  100. pyramid
  101.                            with the well known wall murals. S-l-o-w.
  102.  
  103.                 Vitamin- Use PS. Another beautiful game with a flying bug
  104.                           avoiding obstacles to get vitamins(go
  105. Figure)S-l-o-w.
