  19. Actually, in some ways the a Windows 32-bit port would facilitate ARDI
  20. devoting more time to work on System 7.xx support in that the use of
  21. Windows APIs for  hardware independence would reduce their time spent on
  22. issues of: system configuration, graphics card drivers/support (well, they
  23. are already using univbe, but...), sound card, SCSI drive/CD-ROM support,
  24. etc. that they have with E/D. There also is an opportunity for speed gains
  25. using WinG/DirectX, better use of memory, etc.

  27. Also, consider that a Windows 95 port is also a Windows NT port.  E/D has not
  28. been able to run on NT until the latest bleeding edges, due to such things
  29. as NT's exclusionof DOS sound drivers, etc., due to various protection
  30. issues (i

  40. 2. I noticed in the credits, the mention of a Japanese translation/(version?)
  41. of Executor....what is the status of this?  What does it involve?
  42. Is it merely translation of documentation?  dialogs and menu boxes?
  43. or is it planned to allow actual execution of kanjitalk applications &
  44. DBCS character entry (of course, this would involve worldscript extensions,
  45. which i assume are not one of the highest priorities at the moment).

  47. (At this point I am just VERY impressed with ARDI's work on exeuctor, but
  48. have only played with the demo because I have a mac and therefore no
  49. direct need for it.  A version with Japanese language support (or even,
  50. eventually, the ability to drop in worldscript) would be, in my mind
  51. much preferable (and cheaper!) than purchasing Apples Japanese Language
  52. Kit or KanjiTalk/Japanese 7.x)

  54. 3. I'm probably completely off here (and not that too many people are
  55. running it), but would there be any benefit to setting up
  56. powermac-compatibility by producing a version of Executor on this
  57. RISC-Based Windows NT?

  59. 4. Has anyone tried to run SoftWindows under Executor?  It would be
  60. interesting to compare the speed of Windows apps under SoftWin under
  61. Executor to those on a real mac...PLUS if it ran at a reasonable speed it
  62. would be an additional
  63. option for running Dos/Windows applications under Linux.  (Rather funny
  64. too: A unix-"clone" running a mac-"clone" running a windows "clone".)
