  16. Actually, in some ways the a Windows 32-bit port would facilitate ARDI
  17. devoting more time to work on System 7.xx support in that the use of
  18. Windows APIs for  hardware independence would reduce their time spent on
  19. issues of: system configuration, graphics card drivers/support (well, they
  20. are already using univbe, but...), sound card, SCSI drive/CD-ROM support,
  21. etc. that they have with E/D. There also is an opportunity for speed gains
  22. using WinG/DirectX, better use of memory, etc.

  24. Also, consider that a Windows 95 port is also a Windows NT port.  E/D has not
  25. been able to run on NT until the latest bleeding edges, due to such things
  26. as NT's exclusionof DOS sound drivers, etc., due to various protection
  27. issues (i

  37. 2. I noticed in the credits, the mention of a Japanese translation/(version?)
  38. of Executor....what is the status of this?  What does it involve?
  39. Is it merely translation of documentation?  dialogs and menu boxes?
  40. or is it planned to allow actual execution of kanjitalk applications &
  41. DBCS character entry (of course, this would involve worldscript extensions,
  42. which i assume are not one of the highest priorities at the moment).

  44. (At this point I am just VERY impressed with ARDI's work on exeuctor, but
  45. have only played with the demo because I have a mac and therefore no
  46. direct need for it.  A version with Japanese language support (or even,
  47. eventually, the ability to drop in worldscript) would be, in my mind
  48. much preferable (and cheaper!) than purchasing Apples Japanese Language
  49. Kit or KanjiTalk/Japanese 7.x)

  51. 3. I'm probably completely off here (and not that too many people are
  52. running it), but would there be any benefit to setting up
  53. powermac-compatibility by producing a version of Executor on this
  54. RISC-Based Windows NT?

  56. 4. Has anyone tried to run SoftWindows under Executor?  It would be
  57. interesting to compare the speed of Windows apps under SoftWin under
  58. Executor to those on a real mac...PLUS if it ran at a reasonable speed it
  59. would be an additional
  60. option for running Dos/Windows applications under Linux.  (Rather funny
  61. too: A unix-"clone" running a mac-"clone" running a windows "clone".)
