  10. I have had this problem for quite a while.  I don't know what causes it,
  11. just that executor-svga screws up the scrollback buffer.  To fix it, press
  12. Alt-PgUp, Alt-PgDn.  You lose all scrollback info, but the screen becomes
  13. readable.

  81. Odd? I run Exec 1.99q under win95... sound and all... I think its 
  82. possible that 1.99q needs a true virtualized driver rather than 
  83. win3.x or Dos realmode driver in order to run with sound.

  153. It rankles that we users (as a group) can no longer be trusted,
  154. but I would rather swallow this unpalatable truth than see you
  155. get ripped off.

  157. As a practical matter, this is going to be a pain in the neck
  158. for at least a few of your old NeXTstep customers---those like
  159. me who haven't yet gotten around to buying CD-ROM drives.  (Yes,
  160. I realize that 1x drives now cost less than an Executor license,
  161. but so does a good Japanese meal, and I haven't splurged on one
  162. of those lately, either.)  Would it be possible, say two weeks
  163. _after_ the chaos of shipping the 2.0 CD subsides, for me and
  164. anyone else in the same boat to receive email (or "nymous FTP")
  165. copies over the net?  I don't want to hold up the works with a
  166. special request, but it may be months before I can get access to
  167. a net-connected CD-ROM, and so even if I have to wait weeks for
  168. someone at ARDI to have a few spare minutes, it still may be my
  169. best option.

  238. Yes.  Executor stores its files in the official AppleDouble format,
  239. which is slightly different (and worse) than the netatalk
  240. representation.
  241.  
  242. Fortunately, the file layouts are the same.  They just have different
  243. names.  If memory serves, you need to:
  244.  
  245.   1) Prepend a "%" character to the filenames of all files in the
  246.      .AppleDouble directory and then move them up a directory.
  247.  
  248.   2) Replace each ":HH" sequence in any filenames with "%HH"
  249.      (where HH is two hexadecimal digits) with %HH.
  250.  
  251. I think that's all, but I haven't personally used netatalk so I might
  252. be forgetting something.

  282. No, Executor isn't able to do that.  VESA's VBE video driver spec
  283. provides no way to adjust monitor refresh rates, and (I think)
  284. specifies that the video driver is responsible for choosing a good
  285. refresh rate.  I believe the ability to programmatically set refresh
  286. rates was to be specified in a different VESA driver standard, but I'm
  287. not sure if that standard has been released yet.

  367. You need a utilitiy from your video card manufacturer.
  368. I have a Trident 94XX series card, and use a utility provided by Trident called SMONITOR.EXE .
  369. You could also get a better monitor which supports faster refresh rates at higher screen resolutions.
  370. I would prefer the latter, but I don't have the cash to get a decent one...
