- Netatalk "spoofs" the connection when transferring files to and from a
- MacIntosh. The only reason they are stored in seperate directories is so
- they can possibly be useable in Unix. If a Mac reconnects and afpd sees the
- .AppleDouble directory, it checks for associated resources to the particular
- file. They are recombined and sent back to the Mac. The Mac only sees a
- single binary stream.

- Without going into elaborate detail, netatalk was originally designed to
- allow people with Macs and Unix boxes to share useable (ie, source code,
- text files). That is why there is a very extensive mapping configuration
- for mapping files from the Unix side to the Mac side. The problem isn't
- usually too bad the other way around.
