  12.      After releasing  version 1.11  of Rafm  I noticed  that a  lot of  the
  13.      difficulties experienced when  first setting up Rafm  concerned just a
  14.      few common problems. I  found myself answering the same  question time
  15.      after time so I thought that this file 'Common  questions and answers'
  16.      would be helpful.

  18.      Whenever you have  a problem, please  try to find  the answer in  this
  19.      textfile first before sending Echo- or Netmail!

  22.      Q:   Why doesn't RAFM notice the downloaded or uploaded files! 
  23.      A:   You are probably using  an external protocol (like DSZ  f.e.). In
  24.           this  case you  should check  the path  of the  logfile you  have
  25.           entered in RafmEdit -> Protocols. Compare this to the logfile the
  26.           protocol  generates (most  protocols use  the DSZLOG  environment
  27.           variable). Make sure  the logfile path  is _exactly_ the same  as
  28.           the path pointed to by  the DSZLOG variable (or, if  the protocol
  29.           doesn't use  this  variable, the  path  you have  entered  during
  30.           configuration of the protocol).
  31.           If the  logfile path  is correct,  you should  check that  you've
  32.           entered the correct scan-keywords and numbers!

  35.      Q:   Why can't my users use their cursorkeys?
  36.      A:   Assuming your users have ANSI or  Avatar enabled (if not, cursor-
  37.           tagging  is  disabled)  the  most  likely  reason  is that  their
  38.           terminal software doesn't send extended key-codes. You can advise
  39.           your users either to turn  Numlock on or put their  software into
  40.           Doorway mode (if available).

  43.      Q:   The cursor-scrolling in the View Archive option doesn't work. 
  44.      A:   It does  work, but  slightly differently  to the  normal tagging.
  45.           Only when an archive contains more files than can be shown on one
  46.           screen, can  you  use  scrolling.  Tagging the  files  inside  an
  47.           archive  is  done by  first pressing  [T]  and then  entering the
  48.           number of the file which you wish to tag.

  62.      Q:   When is the next version of RAFM released?
  63.      A:   I don't know! Whenever it's ready  I suppose... Seriously: I will
  64.           NOT answer  any messages of  this type!  I really don't  know and
  65.           even when I do, I won't tell you...

  68.      Q:   Whenever I log off, RAFM just returns to RA, why? 
  69.      A:   Because you're  logged on  locally, and  since you're  only in  a
  70.           shell from RA to RAFM, you will always return to RA. Don't worry,
  71.           whenever a user is online, it _will_ work!

  74.      Q:   I can't get the Super Speedy Fast  and Easy protocol to work. Can
  75.           you give me the correct settings?
  76.      A:   Besides  the examples contained in RafmProt.DDD, I can't give you
  77.           the settings of other protocols, simply because  I don't  use any
  78.           other protocols.

  81.      Q:   When  a  user wants  to download  a huge  free file  via Bimodem,
  82.           Bimodem aborts, why?
  83.      A:   It may sound strange, but this  is because of Bimodem's powerfull
  84.           options. Let's say  you have the latest version of RA marked as a
  85.           free file and your  user has a registered (or hacked ;-() version
  86.           of Bimodem. The user tells RAFM he  wants to download RA and RAFM
  87.           then increases his download limit so he can download the file via
  88.           Bimodem. After starting Bimodem, the  user immediately aborts the
  89.           download  and  starts to  download  other  files. He  now  has an
  90.           increased downloadlimit and can download much more then his daily
  91.           limit! That's why users can't download a free file via Bimodem if
  92.           it's size exceeds their daily limit.

  95.      Q:   Can I become  a beta-tester of  the most powerfull, flexible  and
  96.           user-friendly filemanager ever?
  97.      A:   If you're a registered user, you can become a beta-tester. Please
  98.           refer to the Beta.app file.
