  23. I took part in a high-school science competition (quiz show format) run by
  24. the Illinois Association of Phillipino Physicians (or something like that).
  25. Questions were submitted in advance (either by science instuctors or by the
  26. physicians themselves, I'm not sure which--maybe both) from which they were
  27. randomly drawn.  One of the questions was litterally:  "When does life begin?"
  28. There were a couple immediate objections and the question was thrown out.
  29. (They didn't take too long in deciding to throw it out, either; there is no
  30. way they could have come to a consensus on what the "correct" answer would
  31. have to be.)

  33. On another question a Chemistry textbook I had brought along was used to
  34. settle a dispute.  (I don't remember what it was.) All in all, it was a
  35. pretty interesting day.  Incidentally, I won 3rd place, and got the LARGEST
  36. 3rd place trophy I've ever seen!  (It seemed larger than most 1st place
  37. sports trophies...)  If only I'd responded sooner that the general formula
  38. for an alcohol is ROH, I might have had second...
