  38. told that one can commit any sin one wants to, so long as one can
  39. repent and profess belief in Jesus Christ afterwards.

  43.     Personally, I don't think that AIDS is a punishment for sin
  44. any more than I think that lightning is a punishment for sin. The
  45. latter viewpoint was expounded by a leading clergyman in colonial
  46. America when Boston suffered a big earthquake. He explained that the
  47. people of Boston had been putting up lightning rods and defusing God's
  48. wrath. Thus, God had to find some other way to punish them. He
  49. evidently thought that putting up a lightning rod was essentially
  50. thumbing one's nose at God.
