- Hey, parents/potential parents.
-
- Some time ago, I came across a formula which is supposed to tell you the
- ultimate height of your child. It's supposed to come within a couple of
- inches.
-
- I don't recall where I got the formula from, how large a sample it was
- tested on, etc. You need to know the height of each parent and the height
- of the child on his/her first birthday. And the child's sex.
-
- Maybe someone has grown children, and their heights at one year. If you do,
- I'd be interested to know if the formula was close. If not, if you know your
- child's height on his/her first b-day, check out the formula, and save the
- answer somewhere.
-
- I think this is more useful than the predict-your-baby's-sex calculator,
- anyway. B-)
-
- ------------------------- formula follows ---------------------------
-
- Do all calculations in inches.
-
- 1. calculate a (avg ht of parents) = (father's height + mother's height) / 2
- 2. if child is a boy: use x = 0.61, y = 1.07
- if child is a girl: use x = 0.57, y = 1.12
- 3. calculate child's height = a*x + b*y - 4.43
-
- ------------------------- wasn't that easy? ---------------------------
-
- Let me know if it works. I'll check back in twenty years or so.
