- I don't have exact information but this is my experience. I too installed
- Motif 1.1.3 subsets onto a 4.2a system. I didn't realize that the install
- would be so traumatic; previously, Motif was placed in a separate directory
- and a user could use mwm if they choose.

- Anyway, immediately after I installed Motif 1.1.3, the machine froze with
- one of the Session manager menus pulled down. I thought this was not a
- good thing (tm), so I went and de-installed Motif. Surprise, surprise!
- As far as I can tell, there was no X server left to start up. So I also
- think that the Motif subsets are installed on top of the DECwindows subsets.

- Motif still sometimes gets stuck, usually with a pulldown Session Manager
- menu. I've tried the various suggestions on the net and the frequency of
- this happening seems to be diminishing.
