- Announcing the January meeting of the BBLISA, a New England area
- systems administration forum. Our meetings are free, and anyone
- interested is welcome to come. This month's meeting is on January 27,
- at M.I.T. in Cambridge, MA. See below for details.
-
- BBLISA is an acronym for Back Bay Area Large Installation System
- Adminstrators. However, our membership comes from all over New
- England, and you don't have to be a large installation, or even a
- system administrator, to come. All you have to be is interested. We
- are an all volunteer organization, and have no dues or any other fees.
-
- The BBLISA meets on the last Wednesday of each month. Our meetings
- are 2 hours. The first our we have a speaker on some topic of
- interest to system administrators, and the second hour is devoted to
- questions. When there are no more questions, anyone is free to raise
- any topic they'd like.
-
- We have a mailing list set up, called bblisa@inset.com. To join the
- list, please send mail to bblisa-request@inset.com. If you have any
- questions regarding the BBLISA, you can direct them to
- bblisa-admin@inset.com.
-
- Our topic for this month is the GNU Hurd, and Michael Bushnell from the
- Free Software Foundation will be our speaker.
-
- Here is the "formal" announcement of the meeting. Hope to see you
- there:

- The New England Local System Administration Forum
- JANUARY MEETING
-
- Michael I. Bushnell
- "The GNU Hurd"
-
- Michael's talk will be about the GNU Hurd, the operating system
- being written by the Free Software Foundation. The GNU Hurd attempts
- to restrict the functionality of the non-replaceable kernel to as
- small a minimum as possible. Virtually all of the functionality users
- interact with is provided by the system libraries instead, allowing
- both faster execution and easier replacement by individual users to
- suit their individual needs.
-
- For anyone interested in taking a more active role in the running of
- the BBLISA, there will be a short meeting, starting at 6:30, before
- the regular meeting begins.
-
- Date: Wednesday, January 27, 1993
- Time: 19:00 (18:30 for the admin. meeting)
-
- At: MIT
- Room 140
- Building E51
- 70 Memorial Drive
- Cambridge, MA

- Drive, and then turn down Wadsworth St. to get
- to the rear of the building. Entrance
- and parking are in the rear.
-
- T: Red Line to Kendall Square stop.
- From the T head over toward Au Bon Pain, take
- right onto Wadsworth St. The E51 building is
- at the corner of Wadsworth and Amherst St.
-
- Food and Drinks:

- walk away. Folks will gather there after the
