- Cron has been complaining every so often and I finally got a chance to look
- into the problem. Earlier this week, dodisk sent me mail to tell me that it
- had started executions on Thu Feb 18 02:00:00 EST 1993 and finished on
- Thu Feb 18 02:00:11 EST 1993! The date of the mail was also Thu, 18 Feb 93!!
-
- Reviewing the cron log, I found out that everything was fine until
- 2125 on Wednesday, Jan. 20 when cron was aborted, as it is every evening,
- by an init 6 command. When cron was restarted, the system date was 2259 on
- Wednesday, Feb. 17. The system ran with the wrong date for 24 hours until
- the init 6 command was issued again. This time the system came up with the
- correct date- Thursday, Jan. 26.
-
- This has happened once before around the 5th of January. The only thing that
- I can think of is that the backup battery for the clock is just about dead.
- The system is a Compaq 386.
