  17. I built a 486-33 system in a case that says PC-III on it.  It has
  18. a built-in 10in LCD display and accepts a standard motherboard.
  19. I have an Adaptec 1542 SCSI adapter, Racal Interlan NI-6510
  20. ethernet, 32MB of RAM, an 877MB Toshiba hard drive, 5.25 and 3.5
  21. in floppies.  It will boot SCO ODT, Xenix, or DOS.

  23. Now for the bad part.  The case is pricey, as I understand it
  24. because of the duties on the LCD display.  The overall cost was
  25. about $500 higher than a desktop with color VGA monitor would
  26. have been.  The LCD display died once requiring a trip back under
  27. warranty for replacement.  I understand that these have a plasma
  28. display that's considerably more reliable than the LCD.  The
  29. system is back in for warranty repair for a failed power supply.

  31. Another thing I don't like about this system is that the VGA card
  32. is fine for the LCD, but isn't very good when attached to an
  33. external monitor (I would much prefer an ATI Ultra :-).  The
  34. keyboard is OK if you're a DOSoid, but the '/' key is off in
  35. right field somewhere.  I generally carry another keyboard with
  36. me to use with this machine.

  38. In summary, I wouldn't use this system if I didn't have to travel
  39. quite a bit and take it to customer sites.  It has proven
  40. invaluable for that though so I put up with its shortcomings.
