- I compiled the following:
-
- 0.99-pl4
- WD driver from becker@metropolis.super.org (Don Becker)
-
- Everything was rosy, I thought. My box died in the middle of the day ( I wasn't
- there, I went home for some odd reason, like hunger pangs and red eyes :). I had
- a NFS mount running, but today, after one more night, the problem was not
- repeated!
-
- Then from X I tried a command as su root and got a blank screen. Hitting return
- brought me back to X. Next command gave me a blank screen for a second..Then it
- cleared.
-
- Today, I connected a printer to my parallel port. After printing a few things
- and telneting a few places, something happened:
-
- wd_block_input(cnt=4 offset 3700) addr 0xcb700 = ff 80 3821 42..
-
- eth_if: Couldn't allocate a sk_buff of size 116
- eth_if :Couldn' allocate a sk_buff of size 116
- again and again and again........... Console irresponsive, no virtual consoles
- eth_if Receiver overrun
- bogus packet header
-
-
- DUH?
-
- Hit the big red button, reboot with a1,a2 efsck -r everything nominally OK....
-
-
- I wonder if the printer port uses irq 5? that's where my WD hangs out at.
-
- I will keep experimenting...... God, I love these puzzles!
-
- Does anyone know the answer to:
-
- 1) How do you get your lpd to stay up and running?
- 2) How to configure sendmail daemon?
- 3) How to configure tcp/ip properly?
-
- I am using the _latest_ SLS, with all them fixes from last week.
-
- 486/33,8megs ram, 8 megs swap partition, WD220C IDE drive (hdb1), extfs,
- Xfree86-1.0 WD card at irq 5 i/o 280h base (don't remember, whatever
- it's set on Space.c).
-
- Actually, I don't think the culprit is pl4.... But then again, what do I know,
- I am just a newbie, a newbie, a newbie, a newbie..........................
-
- Hasta la vista, baby. -JEM-
