- hi folks,
-
- i've installed linux 0.99pl3 on /dev/hda2 and ms-dos 5.0 on /dev/hda1 of
- my portable computer's hard drive. i've installed lilo, and i can get
- it to boot either ms-dos or linux (by changing the order of the relevant
- lines in the config file), but i can't get it to prompt me for my choice.
-
- i want to know how i can choose which os to boot at boot time. the
- lilo docs i got from sunsite.unc.edu say that i can use a partition
- switcher called 'bootactv', which is available in pfdisk. pfdisk
- isn't on sunsite anymore, and archie doesn't know anything about it.
-
- the docs also mention a program called pfboot. there are at least two
- different programs called 'pboot' going around; the one distributed by
- the 386BSD folks is different from the one on tsx-11, and the 386BSD
- one knows nothing about linux. the pfboot on tsx-11 has no documentation
- and volunteers to do things i don't understand to my hard disk, so i
- don't trust it.
-
- what do the rest of you use for partition switching?
