- Hi,
- This is a v. simple question to all you sendmail gods, that will hopefully make you
- feel good in answering it off the top of your heads:
- We have a Sparc which is connected to name server, and so any mail that is sent to a
- resolvable name will be sent correctly. However, not all mail addresses have IP
- numbers associated with them. In these cases the mail bounces with the message
- "host unknown".
- If this occurs, our work around is to send mail via a more intelligent machine using
- this format:
- prompt% mail username%computer.domainaddress@intelligent-machine-address
- instead of the usual
- prompt% mail username@computer.domainaddress
-
- So, I would like to know if there is a simple fix to sendmail.cf to send all mail via
- the intelligent machine, or maybe just the bounced mail. It would seem to me that this
- is a one line fix, but I haven't found it yet.
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Chris Gatenby
