  19. Maybe the remote modem thinks that you have V.42 or V.42bis turned on ?

  21. Take my advice: Dump it, if you can't get a manual for it. You will
  22. most likely spend at least 25 hours of your own and colleagues' time.
  23. The value of that time would be more productively spent on buying a new
  24. V.32 or V.32bis modem. The V.32 modems without FAX are only about $225
  25. by now.
