  17.  We are trying to institute a policy where every university workstation is
  18.  replaced at least every five years.... about 20% each year..... this does
  19.  amount to big dollars after you get a few thousand workstations all over
  20.  campus, and must have approval from the heads of the university to commit
  21.  to spending such a large amount.... Our Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs
  22.  has asked for (and already received) a detailed inventory of all workstations
  23.  that are attached to the Mainframe computers.... from this, he is planning to
  24.  put together a proposal for our Chancellor to consider to implement this plan!
  25.  If we accomplish this, it should be a workable plan that will continue to keep
  26.  us pretty current with new technology.... (a 3 year plan would be better, but
  27.  5 years is better than the no-plan-at-all that we have now)....right now,
  28.  every department try's to buy new computer workstations from their departmental
  29.  budgets, and some departments have sufficient budget to keep current and others
  30.  do not.... This issue is much better handled as a University concern rather
  31.  than a Departmental budget concern.....
