- Well perhaps I should back off a little myself. Looking at cam catalogs
- this weekend I found several torque cams.
-
- Crane CRN 1148202 290 deg .454 lift
- min. rpm recommended 2,000
- max. rpm recommended 4,500
-
- If we put this cam behind 28 inch tires and 3.73 gears we get 100.44 mph
- at 4,500 rpm's. If we use the 1300 factor that also gives us 12.94 sec.
- in the 1/4 mile.
-
- However when you look at the aftermarket cams most people put in like
-
- Crane CRN 113861 294/304 deg .520/.540 lift
- min rpm's recommended 3,800
- max rpm's recommended 7,200
- You would have to increase the axle ratio by 90 % to put the cam in the
- same speed ranges resulting in a 7.09 axle ratio. For simular bottom end
- action.
-
- Yes it's all a system that needs to be ballanced. What would happen with
- a 1148202 cam and 5.57 gears? or a 113861 cam with 3.08 gears?
