- Well we are really looking more for a performance fuel so I'll list some
- of the advantages to alcohol. and disadvantages to.
-
- Very high octane rating allows higher compression ratios as 14:1
-
- While containing less power per liter than gasoline it requires a richer
- burn mixture. The loss in power per gallon is about 15 % but
- with the mixture being twice as much a gasoline you end up with
- about 70 % horse power increase. However Nitro yields much more
- power than this even.
-
- Alcohol runs cooler than gasoline. Less wear etc. caused by overheating.
-
- Achohol is a liquid that is much easier to handle and boittle than propane
- or lp gas.
-
- Research has already been done on alcohol. It is the prefered and soon to
- become the only legal fuel in Brazil. Do to polution laws.
-
- Alcohol after burning leaves mostly water as an after product.
-
- Research has already been done on squeezing horsepower out of alcohol as the
- AT/FC and AT/D classes use alcohol to run 1/4 mile times around
- 5.88 sec at 239mph (1405 factor not far from the 1300 guide)
