- Indeed. Well, I don't think clinging to pre-RvW paternity child support
- statutes, just because they happen to give women an illusory* power advantage,
- is very "progressive" either. So, be careful about whining "it's just biology"
- or "state of nature" when these progressive paternity child support reforms
- are proposed -- we may just take that as an offer to start child support over
- again at Ground Zero.

- * (I say "illusory" because true power only comes when an individual is given
- the power to choose AND the power to reap the full consequences of that
- choice, whether they be good or bad. The current "all choice and subsidized
- consequences" that the law affords women simply treats them like little
- helpless girls who are incapable of making real decisions without a helping
- hand from the patriarchy. In the long run, this backwards-looking aberration
- of our legal system subtly works AGAINST the empowerment of women, not for
- it.)
