- Nice words, thanks :-) In other posts, Teri suggested the wisdom of
- communicating one's expectations beforehand, to avoid some of
- these misunderstandings. I've never asked somebody to pay on
- a *first* date, though...at the risk of being somewhat devious, I do
- find it useful to learn what their default expectations are in
- real time, without any prompting from me. I realize that's not a very
- fair-and-open way to do things, having expectations (of a minority
- view, here in Idaho) but not saying anything. For some reason,
- "hey wanna get together for lunch Tuesday" comes out of my mouth
- instead of the more informative "you strike me as an interesting
- person and I'd like to get to know you better...wanna split a lunch
- tab on Tuesday". I'm usually not a completely inarticulate nervous
- wreck just because I'm around an interesting woman, so my guess is
- that there's some fear of rejection on my part; e.g., not willing to
- ask for anything that might kill the deal. Hmmm...

- (I'll be away from netnews for a few weeks, missing out on this
- thread that won't die...:-)
