- The thing that helped me cut down drastically and led to quitting was
- deciding not to smoke at work. My company at that time, Data General,
- instituted a stricter smoking policy which would only allow me to have
- 3 cigarettes/8 hour day anyway. So I said "to hell with it" and started
- leaving them at home.
-
- After 8 hours with no cigarettes, I'd only smoke 3-5 after work. I also
- stopped smoking before work. For about 3 years I continued smoking 3-5
- cigarettes/day. 3 years ago, I decided to give them up for Lent (I'm
- Catholic) and haven't smoked since. God also answered my prayers by
- taking away any urge to start again.
-
- I guess there are a lot of ways to stop smoking and I tried a lot of them
- but this is what worked for me. Now I can't imagine smoking again.
