  27. Anyway, I don't know if you can classify the stuff I'm burning as old growth
  28. hardwood, most of this part of wisconsin has been cut several times already.
  29. I have 20(?) acres of (as far as I can tell) virgin timberland, and obviously
  30. I don't cut down the big trees.  You see, you burn the stuff that's dead,
  31. because it ages quicker.

  33. A properly managed woodlot is a better way to go than burning petrochemicals,
  34. in my opinion.

  36. Besides, it's a good way to get exercise, and makes me more independant of
  37. the whims of OPEC or whoever my fuel oil would come from.  Also, my fireplace
  38. (actually more like a sealed woodstove unit) is more efficient than my furnace,
  39. by far, so why should I buy oil?

  41. Someone mentions that wood smoke is highly toxic.  What is it, exactly, that
  42. makes it so?  Which type of wood?  Seasoned, dry, or green?  Details, sources?
