- Many in the lower 48 are trying to prevent the same mistakes that happened
- down here from happening in Alaska. Maybe we are or aren't doing a good
- job of that. Michael Adams would probably know better than I would.
- Maybe we are doing a good job of preventing the damage but are hurting
- local people more than needs to be. Nevertheless, there are many people
- in Alaska with short-term profit in their minds.

- I also spoke of the difference between local users and the large corporate
- users. Why is it that many Alaskan's support the large corporations is
- what you say is true? How about if I suggest that lands continue to
- be locked up for large-scale extraction, but local people be given
- much more freedom for uses that are local in nature.
